All Quiet on the Western Front

All Quiet on the Western Front
By: Erich Maria Remarque
"The Greatest War Novel of All Time"

I read this book over break for extra credit in my history class.  We are just starting to study WW1.  I didn't think it'd be very good but I decided to give it a try.  I loved it!  It was very good.  It was a little hard for me to get into but it got better as it went along.  The book is about a young soldier named Paul Baumer who joins the war with his classmates.  They are in the German Army during WW1.  The book takes you through the young man's struggles and the horror of the war.  All of his friends are taken from him.  He is the last of his classmates.  The author fought in WW1 so I think that is part of the reason why the book is so good.  The author really knew and felt the horror.  I would definitely recommend this book.
